We’ve long been fans of NitroDesk’s TouchDown on Android and, in fact, have always recommended it for business use for accessing corporate Exchange Accounts from Android devices to enhance the protection of corporate data.  When we heard about the beta for Mac OS X at the end of September, we couldn’t wait to check it out.  Well, we did just that and after putting it through the paces over the last few weeks, we can say we’re really pleased with the features and reliability.  We recommend it for just about anyone wanting an ‘Outlook-like’ ActiveSync Client on Mac OS X, but especially for security conscious businesses challenged with integrating iMac’s, Mac Pro’s and MacBook Pro’s into their desktop and mobile infrastructure.

Maybe you’ve never heard of Soundmatters International, Inc., but it’s very likely that you’ve owned products using their technology.  Soundmatters was formed in 1998 as an Audio Research and Development Company. Until recently, their website named a few of their very well known partners but that’s been removed now, so I’m pretty sure I should not call them out here.  The new statement reads: “We can count some very large and prestigious commercial and consumer electronics companies among our customers, creating wonderful economies of scale and enabling us to provide our soundmatters-branded products at surprisingly competitive pricing”.  In 2003, Soundmatters began also producing their own branded products as referenced in the statement.

robohand150x120I’ll bet you get them too – those unsolicited marketing calls from automated systems set up to dial numbers from a database at all hours of the day and night!  If you and your family still use a standard landline or VoIP carrier for your home phone or small business, chances are pretty high that you’re receiving these annoying calls.  The FTC regulates against most of this type of intrusion into our personal lives, it just hasn’t been very effective because much of the illegal activity is off-shore and out of reach for prosecution.  And of course, in these situations, being on the ‘Do Not Call’ list ( doesn’t provide much relief, either (though we still recommend that you register).

Welcome!  Today we have officially 'relaunched' the afxMedia website.  We're still testing and tweaking (for just a few more days), but hopefully you won't notice anything out of place.

At the same time, we are introducing our new Consumer and Business Technology Blog (yes, you are reading it now) where we'll be sharing tech news and reviews for just about everything consumer and business IT related.  More after the break...
